GCC Ambassadors to India discuss ways to strengthen Gulf–Indian relations

The ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to India during a meeting today explored ways to deepen Gulf–Indian relations and coordinate joint positions to advance shared interests.

The meeting was hosted by Kuwaiti Ambassador to India H.E. Meshaal Al-Shamali, in his capacity as the current chairman of the GCC Ambassadors Council, and as part of a series of regular consultations.

Ambassador Al-Shamali told the Kuwait News Agency that the GCC envoys commended Kuwait’s efforts during its presidency of the 45th session of the GCC Supreme Council — an important milestone that reinforced the principles of collective Gulf cooperation and strengthened the foundations of the bloc.

He added that the meeting included an exchange of views on enhancing joint Gulf action to confront current challenges and work toward a more stable and prosperous future for the region and its people.

Discussions also covered the latest regional and international developments, as well as progress in the ongoing free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC and India.

The ambassadors emphasized the importance of boosting economic and trade ties with India, increasing mutual investments, and expanding cooperation in key sectors such as food security, cybersecurity, and energy.

The meeting was attended by the Bahraini Ambassador H.E. Abdulrahman Al-Qaoud, Omani Ambassador H.E. Issa Al-Shaibani, Qatari Ambassador H.E. Mohammed Al-Jaber, Saudi Ambassador H.E. Haitham Al-Maliki, and the UAE Embassy’s Acting Chargé d’Affaires Abdulaziz Al-Hashemi.
