Drug enforcement personnel arrest four, dismantles indoor marijuana farm

The Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday the Criminal Security Sector of the Directorate-General for Drug Control, dismantled a fully equipped indoor marijuana farm and arrested four Kuwaiti suspects after intensive surveillance and legal procedures.

In a statement, the ministry said the operation was carried out under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Saud Al-Sabah.

It added that a raid uncovered an advanced marijuana cultivation setup, seizing 70 seedlings and one kilogram of ready marijuana, while a firearm and ammunition were found, with suspects confessing and referred to authorities.

The ministry stressed that the case constitutes a “serious crime” under Kuwait’s new antinarcotics law, which imposes strict penalties for drug cultivation intended for trafficking, including life imprisonment or the death penalty.

It added that the law stipulates heavy fines ranging from KWD 100,000 to KWD 2 million, or the value of seized substances, whichever is higher, reaffirming its commitment to combating drug crimes and protecting society.
