DGCA urges Kuwaiti youth to strengthen the aviation sector as an “Air Observer”

On the occasion of “International Air Traffic Controllers Day”, The Kuwaiti General Directorate of Civil Aviation called upon the youth to work in this very important field to strengthen the nation’s aviation sector with specialised national cadres.

The Kuwaiti General Directorate of Civil Aviation stressed the importance of the role of the Air Traffic Controller, pointing to seeking to guide young people to work in this vital field to strengthen the aviation sector with specialized national cadres.

During a ceremony held by the Department on the occasion of International Air Traffic Controllers Day, which falls on Sunday, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Daij Al-Otaibi told the Kuwait News Agency that the importance of the role of the Air Traffic Controller stands out in controlling and regulating the movement of aircraft at airports, controlling them and directing them in the airspace to ensure the safety and flow of air traffic.

Highlighting the sector’s importance, Al-Otaibi added that Kuwaiti Civil Aviation’s participation in this celebration stems from its belief in the importance and vitality of the role of Air Traffic Controllers in ensuring the safety and flow of air traffic, and create awareness about the importance of this global event.

Al-Otaibi further pointed out that the administration has put forward a number of vital projects to modernise the infrastructure of the air navigation sector.

This is being done in order to develop navigation systems and meteorological devices at Kuwait International Airport, which is meant to keep pace with the developments in the civil aviation industry in the world. Moreover, he stated that DGCA seeks through the programs and plans of internal and external study missions that it develops to introduce the importance of this vital field.

Also to guide young people and urge them to work in it to strengthen the aviation sector in the country, with specialised and qualified Kuwaiti cadres to meet future needs.

Specifying further, Al-Otaibi explained that the air traffic in the country is managed by a national cadre with high professionalism, pointing to the burdens borne by the air traffic controller in ensuring the safety of flights passing through Kuwait and coming around the clock through an integrated navigation system; that has one of the latest advanced devices globally to achieve the maximum requirements of safety and flow.

On the sidelines of the celebration of this occasion, the Civil Aviation Administration honoured a number of retired air observers in recognition of their continuous efforts over the past years
