Cassation postpones high-profile ‘embezzlement’ case to April 13
. . . pending witness testimony as legal proceedings continue

The Court of Cassation, presided over by Judge Abdullah Jassim, has adjourned the appeal filed by Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled in the so-called “expenses” case until April 13, in order to complete proceedings and hear witness testimony.
The decision was taken during yesterday’s session, as the court continues to examine multiple appeals related to convictions issued earlier by the Ministers’ Court.
Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled is challenging a January ruling that sentenced him to 14 years in prison, ordered the repayment of approximately 10 million dinars, and imposed fines of around 20 million dinars in a case involving allegations of embezzlement of public funds from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as money laundering, reports Al-Anba daily.
He is also appealing separate rulings in two additional cases linked to ministry expenditures. One ruling sentenced him to seven years in prison, ordered him to repay 500,000 dinars, imposed a fine of 1 million dinars, and dismissed him from office.
The second ruling handed down a seven-year prison sentence with hard labor, repayment of approximately 9 million dinars, fines of about 19 million dinars, and the confiscation of vehicles linked to the case.
It is worth noting that the court had previously ordered his release on bail while imposing a travel ban pending the outcome of the appeals process.
