Cabinet emphasizes timely payments to contract workers across state agencies
The Council of Ministers directed state agencies to follow up on the commitment of contracting companies to pay the wages of their workers regularly.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Saleh Al-Mulla, said in a circular addressed to ministers regarding guaranteeing the rights of workers of government contracting companies that “The Council listened in its recent meeting to an explanation provided by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah, regarding guaranteeing the rights of workers of companies contracting with government agencies, pointing to the delay and failure of some companies to pay their workers’ wages, which may force them to hold a sit-in or strike, which results in disrupting work at government agencies in addition to harming Kuwait’s reputation, especially in the field of human rights.”
The Council of Ministers issued its decision urging government agencies to follow up on the commitment of contracting companies to pay the wages of their workers regularly, “calling for this decision to be circulated to the agencies under the supervision of the Ministers.”
