Appeals Court overturns acquittal verdict, jails Kuwaiti citizen
State Security Appeals Court issues mixed verdicts in high-profile case involving insult and assault

The State Security Circuit of the Court of Appeals, presided over by Counselor Abdullah Al-Sanea, has overturned the lower court verdict acquittal and sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to four years in prison on charges of insulting the Emirate and promoting the ideology of the Houthi movement and the Ansar Allah group on social media platforms.
The court, however, upheld the earlier acquittal verdict related to allegations of carrying out hostile acts against Gulf states, reports Al-Rai daily.
In a separate but related ruling, the court also reversed another acquittal involving the same individual, sentencing him to two years in prison with a three-year suspended term for charges that included insulting the status of the Emirate and assaulting an expatriate.
The Criminal Court had earlier accepted a waiver submitted in the case.
