Al-Jalahma confident of Kuwaiti athletes’ ability to excel at Asian Games
Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma expressed confidence in the abilities of Kuwaiti athletes participating in the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Paralympic Games, which will be held in Nagoya, Japan.
Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Kuwait at the residence of Japanese Ambassador H.E. Mukai Kenichiro, under the slogan “Imagine One Asia, Imagine One Heart,” Al-Jalahma encouraged Kuwaiti athletes to maintain focus, discipline and determination throughout the competitions.
The Asian Games are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4, while the Asian Paralympic Games will run from October 18 to 24. Al-Jalahma stressed that the athletes would be representing not only themselves but also Kuwait, urging them to give their best and achieve strong results.
He wished all members of the Kuwaiti delegation success in their respective competitions.
Japanese Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the participation of Kuwaiti athletes and praised their efforts to represent their country on the international stage. He also highlighted the strong and longstanding relations between Japan and Kuwait.
The ambassador noted Kuwait’s proven sporting capabilities, particularly in karate, and emphasized the role of sport in bringing people and nations closer together.
The ceremony was attended by more than 70 guests, including Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah, Kuwait Paralympic Committee President Mansour Al-Sarheed, and Honorary President of the Disabled Sports Club Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah.
Representatives of government institutions, sports federations and Kuwaiti athletes also attended the event, which sought to strengthen sports cooperation and friendship between Japan and Kuwait while supporting and encouraging Kuwaiti athletes ahead of the upcoming Games.
