“Acting PM” directs prosecution of 2 officers and 6 security staff

The officers allegedly caused the death of a ‘Bedoon’ (stateless person) falsely claiming that it was due to his car overturning, despite forensic evidence showing gunshot wounds.

As per information from a security source to Al-Jarida, it mentioned that the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, issued an administrative directive to form an investigation committee following a serious allegation.

The security source reported that the directive came after a complaint from a stateless individual who stated that his son was killed by members of the Special Tasks Company, which operates under the Public Security Undersecretary.

The complaint stated that the son was fatally shot. However officers involved allegedly reported his death as the result of his vehicle had overturned during the police chase.

Nonetheless, the forensic report revealed that the deceased had two gunshot wounds; one in the shoulder and another in the back, contradicting claims that he died from a vehicle accident.

The father demanded justice for his son, urging authorities to address the circumstances of his death through a transparent investigation.

Moreover, the source added that H. E. Al-Yousef ordered a swift investigation and demanded a detailed report on the incident, along with the detention of all officers and personnel involved in the chase.

The investigation revealed that a security team, led by a Colonel, a Lieutenant Colonel, and 6 members of the Special Missions Company, pursued the vehicle of a wanted individual.

This individual had previously escaped from custody at Al-Razi Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained during a drug-related arrest. Despite being under surveillance by detectives, he managed to evade them and flee from the hospital about a week prior.
