Kuwait Customs seizes 568 counterfeit shoes and jackets from China shipment

Kuwait Customs officers have seized 568 counterfeit shoes and jackets bearing registered trademarks from an air cargo shipment arriving from China, after authorities suspected discrepancies in the declared contents. The shipment, which weighed 883 kilograms according to its bills of lading, was declared as containing furniture and chairs.
However, a detailed inspection by Customs officers uncovered the counterfeit footwear and jackets.
The inspection was carried out after the Customs Investigation and Search Department raised suspicions about the shipment and referred it for further examination. Authorities said the seized goods violated laws and regulations protecting intellectual property rights and restricting the circulation of counterfeit products in Kuwait.
Customs officials subsequently took the required legal and customs measures against the shipment and the seized items. The General Administration of Customs said it would continue strengthening inspections of incoming cargo and taking action against attempts to bring counterfeit or other illegal goods into Kuwait.
