Court of Cassation jails three former MPs for insulting H.H. the Amir and judiciary

The Court of Cassation sentenced three former members of the National Assembly to prison terms ranging from one to three years for offenses including insulting H.H. the Amir and the judiciary.

The court also decided to refrain from punishing a number of former MPs on condition that they maintain good conduct.

In separate cases, the court sentenced two former MPs to three years in prison with hard labor, after establishing that they had previous convictions for similar offenses.

The cases involved tweets posted on their accounts concerning the biometric fingerprinting procedure for former MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri.
