The UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran towards the UAE on Tuesday, with one falling outside the country’s territorial waters and the other inside UAE territorial waters.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, prompting UAE authorities to reiterate that the country remains on high alert and that its armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any threat to national security. The Ministry of DefenSe said the UAE’s defense forces are taking all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security and stability, along with its national interests and strategic capabilities.
The ministry stressed that necessary measures are also being taken to protect civilians, critical infrastructure and essential services while minimizing disruption to normal life. UAE authorities reassured residents that the situation across the country was safe following the missile threat.
The Ministry of Defense and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority said unusual sounds heard in some areas were caused by air defense systems responding to the threat. A mobile emergency alert sent to residents’ phones confirmed that the situation was safe and thanked the public for their cooperation during the emergency.
UAE urges public to avoid rumors
Authorities said normal activities could resume, while urging residents to remain attentive to official instructions and rely on authorized government channels for real-time updates. UAE authorities confirmed that the country’s air defense systems had responded to the incoming threat and successfully intercepted multiple threats, the Gulf News reporta.
Authorities in Dubai also said unusual sounds heard in parts of the city were linked to the air defense response and interceptions. The Ministry of Defense urged residents to remain vigilant and refrain from circulating rumors or unverified information, stressing the importance of relying on official UAE sources for updates amid the developing regional situation.
The ministry said the country’s defense and emergency authorities remain prepared to deal with potential threats while continuing to prioritize the safety of residents and the protection of vital infrastructure.
