Interior Ministry arrests two juveniles over alleged ISIS links, plot targeting place of worship

They are alleged to have undergone training in the preparation of explosives

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, through the State Security Service, has arrested two juveniles for allegedly communicating with members linked to the terrorist organization ISIS and receiving training in explosives-making as part of a plan to target a place of worship belonging to one of the country’s religious sects.

The arrests followed security monitoring, investigations and surveillance by the authorities. The two juveniles were taken into custody and referred to the relevant authorities, where legal procedures will be completed in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued efforts to monitor and prevent activities that could threaten Kuwait’s security and public safety, stressing that any unlawful practices will be dealt with through the appropriate legal procedures.

The ministry also urged parents to closely monitor their children and educate them about the dangers of becoming involved in extremist ideas, unlawful behavior or activities. It called on families to monitor children’s use of social media, strengthen guidance and supervision at home and promote respect for the law, national loyalty and a sense of responsibility toward the country.
