Municipality flags buildings near power transformers as major violation

Kuwait intensifies campaign to remove encroachments on state land

Kuwait Municipality has continued its field campaign “Kuwait is more beautiful without encroachments” to monitor and remove illegal structures and violations on state property in residential areas.

The campaign aims to improve the appearance of housing areas and eliminate random constructions that obstruct public facilities and pose safety risks, the municipality said.

Head of the Violations Removal Department at the Capital Governorate Municipality branch, Suleiman Al-Ghais, said one of the most common violations found during inspections in Jaber Al-Ahmad Residential City was the construction of buildings near electrical transformers.

He warned that such structures hinder maintenance work by the Ministry of Electricity and Water, potentially causing power disruptions and threatening residents’ safety.

Al-Ghais said the campaign also targets illegal diwaniyas built on sidewalks, walkways and near transformers, as well as unauthorized green fences around house setbacks that may create traffic hazards.

He stressed that the municipality is enforcing regulations related to public cleanliness, road works, safety and agricultural areas, and urged property owners to remove violations voluntarily before legal measures, including fines, are imposed.
