MOH adds ‘midwifery’ to the list of healthcare profession
Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has issued a decision to establish “Midwifery” as an official professional title among healthcare professions supporting medical practice, covering specialized services related to childbirth and maternal care.
The Ministry of Health said the decision was issued in accordance with Law No. 70 of 2020 concerning the regulation of medical practice, supporting healthcare professions, and the rights of patients and health facilities.
The ministry explained that the move comes in line with the continued expansion of women’s health, maternity, motherhood, and childhood services across Ministry of Health hospitals.
It added that officially recognizing midwifery aims to develop the profession, strengthen the availability of qualified specialists, improve the quality of healthcare services, and enhance the safety of mothers and newborns.
