Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic relations between Tehran and Baghdad and opening new avenues of cooperation across political, economic and regional fields.
During their meeting in Tehran, the two leaders described expanding bilateral cooperation as a strategic necessity for the future of relations between the two neighboring countries, according to a statement published by the Iranian presidency.
The two sides emphasized that developing comprehensive ties would contribute to enhancing stability, security and prosperity for both nations, while serving the interests of their peoples and promoting greater regional cooperation.
Pezeshkian and Al-Zaidi also reviewed existing joint agreements, stressing that accelerating their implementation would represent an important step toward advancing bilateral relations and achieving mutual benefits.
The discussions highlighted the importance of activating cooperation in several key areas, including politics, trade, investment, energy, transportation corridors, transit projects and broader regional coordination.
The meeting comes as Tehran and Baghdad continue efforts to expand economic and strategic cooperation amid growing regional challenges and shifting geopolitical developments.
