MCI raids warehouse, confiscates expired tobacco, detergents
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has seized large quantities of expired products from a warehouse in the Capital Governorate during an inspection raid carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Investigation Department.
The inspection teams discovered 1,320 kilograms of expired molasses tobacco along with 1,500 packages of expired detergents and cosmetics that were being stored for sale in local markets.
The Ministry of Commerce said the seizure followed surveillance and monitoring activities conducted by the Capital Governorate Control Department as part of its continued efforts to ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations and prevent the sale of unsafe products.
Director of the Commercial Control Department Faisal Al-Ansari stressed that the ministry will continue its inspection campaigns targeting markets and commercial warehouses across Kuwait, warning businesses against storing or selling expired goods.
He said such practices endanger consumer health and safety and constitute violations that carry legal consequences. The ministry urged traders to comply with regulations and ensure that all products offered in the market meet safety and quality requirements.
