Trump gives Iran one week to return to talks

. . . or face expanded strikes on key infrastructure

  • US President threatens attacks on power plants and bridges as Tehran vows to disrupt regional energy routes

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that the United States could expand its ongoing military campaign to target key infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if Tehran fails to return to negotiations and reach an agreement by next week.

Trump’s warning came as US strikes against Iran entered their fifth consecutive day, with Tehran responding with attacks targeting countries across the region, including Kuwait.

According to US media reports, Trump held a meeting in the White House “operations room” with senior national security officials to discuss options for dealing with Iran and potential plans to widen the scope of military operations.

The meeting was attended by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and White House envoy Steve Witkoff. Discussions reportedly focused on possible strikes against strategic facilities.
