Kuwait Police Arrest Syrian Dentist Accused of Overcharging Patients and Pocketing Refunds

The General Department of Criminal Investigations has arrested a Syrian dentist working at Jahra Specialized Dental Center on suspicion of fraud, deception and unlawfully obtaining money from patients.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrest was carried out by the Department for Combating Forgery and Counterfeiting Crimes as part of ongoing security efforts to combat such offences.

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly asked patients to purchase dental implant and restoration supplies in quantities exceeding their actual treatment requirements. He reportedly convinced patients that the additional supplies were necessary and provided them with purchase invoices.

After completing the treatments, the suspect allegedly returned the unused supplies to pharmacies and kept the refunded amounts without the patients’ knowledge.

Following investigations and surveillance, security personnel arrested the suspect at his workplace and found dental restoration tools and purchase invoices in his possession.

When confronted with the evidence, he reportedly confessed to committing the offences repeatedly in connection with five treatment cases, obtaining amounts ranging from KD 120 to KD 150.

The suspect has been referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal action.
