Spanish envoy, community members celebrate Spain’s qualification to WCup Round of 16

The Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait brought together members of the Spanish community and guests in a vibrant atmosphere to celebrate Spain’s 3–0 victory over Austria, which secured its place in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.

The Ambassador of Spain to Kuwait, H.E. Manuel Hernández, hosted a lively gathering at the Hilton Garden Inn Avenues Hotel to celebrate Spain’s qualification to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The event brought together members of the Spanish community, diplomats and friends of the embassy, who watched Spain’s match against Austria in an atmosphere filled with excitement and national pride.

The venue was decorated in red, with attendees wearing Spain jerseys and waving national flags as they followed the action on screen.

Spain secured a commanding 3–0 victory over Austria in Los Angeles, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal (36th and 89th minutes) and Pedro Porro (66th minute), ensuring a place in the knockout stage of the tournament hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

As the match unfolded, the audience reacted passionately to every key moment. Cheers erupted with each Spanish goal, while tense silence fell during Austrian attacks, reflecting the emotional highs and lows of the game.

Following the final whistle, celebrations filled the hall as guests congratulated one another on Spain’s progress to the Round of 16, where the team is set to face Portugal in Dallas on Monday.
The ambassador praised the strong sense of unity within the Spanish community in Kuwait, noting that such gatherings reflect the deep cultural connection and shared pride in the national team’s achievements on the global stage.
