Major airport drug bust, Kuwait Customs intercept 86kg narcotics

Kuwait Customs foiled a major drug smuggling attempt involving 86 kilograms of narcotics hidden inside suitcases arriving from the United Kingdom, in one of the largest airport seizures reported this year.

The operation was carried out at Kuwait International Airport, where customs inspectors detected suspicious luggage and conducted a detailed inspection that led to the discovery of the large drug haul. The consignment was concealed in a sophisticated attempt to evade detection.

According to initial customs reports, the shipment originated from the UK and was intercepted before it could exit the airport. Authorities immediately seized the narcotics and launched investigations into the individuals linked to the luggage.

While full details about arrests and the specific type of drugs have not yet been publicly disclosed, customs officials confirmed that the case is part of an ongoing crackdown on international trafficking networks using passenger baggage routes.

This seizure follows a pattern of similar interceptions involving drugs smuggled from European countries, including the UK, where smugglers attempt to conceal narcotics in luggage, parcels, and commercial shipments.

Authorities stressed that enhanced scanning systems and intelligence-led inspections at Kuwait International Airport continue to play a key role in preventing drug inflows.
