Kuwait steps up infrastructure drive with intensive road maintenance schedule
. . . across 37 key highways, residential areas and strategic routes

The Ministry of Public Works has accelerated the pace of road maintenance under newly awarded contracts, marking a strong push to upgrade infrastructure in line with strict technical standards. The intensified efforts are being carried out in coordination with relevant government entities to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely completion.
The ministry has implemented a comprehensive maintenance schedule for the current week, covering 37 areas across all governorates. The plan also includes eight critical sites as part of highway contracts, highlighting a dual focus on both internal roads and major transport corridors.
Officials stated that the maintenance works, which began last Saturday, will continue through Thursday under a structured timeline aimed at minimizing disruption while maximizing progress.
Key highway works are being carried out on several strategic routes, including Al-Abdali Road, Al-Fahaheel Road near Mishref and Salwa, and Al-Subiya Road. Maintenance is also underway at major intersections and overpasses, such as the junction of the Fourth Ring Road with Al-Maghrib Road, and the elevated interchange leading towards Al-Salmiya.
Additional works extend to vital stretches such as the Fourth Ring Road between Al-Maghrib Road and Damascus Street, Al-Salmi Road heading toward Kuwait City, and the Sixth Ring Road between kilometer 24 and 27 in both directions. These routes play a crucial role in easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity nationwide.
At the same time, maintenance efforts are targeting internal roads within residential areas. The distribution reflects a broad nationwide scope: two areas in Al-Jahra Governorate, nine in the Capital Governorate, eight in Hawalli, seven in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, six in Al-Ahmadi, and five in Al-Farwaniya.
The ministry emphasized that all works are being executed according to the highest engineering standards, with strict supervision to ensure durability and long-term performance.
This intensified campaign underscores Kuwait’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure, enhancing road safety, and supporting economic activity through more efficient transport networks.
By fast-tracking maintenance under the new contracts, the ministry aims to address accumulated wear and tear while laying the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable road system.
Officials reaffirmed that coordination with concerned authorities remains central to the program’s success, ensuring all projects are completed within set timelines and according to approved specifications.
