US President Donald Trump on Wednesday described the recently agreed ceasefire with Iran as a “total and complete victory” for the United States, following intense tensions between the two sides.
In a brief telephone interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), Trump said there was “not a single doubt” about the outcome, emphasizing that the agreement, which is set to last for two weeks, represents a decisive success for Washington.
Addressing questions about the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium, Trump indicated that the issue would be handled carefully within the framework of the agreement. “This will be dealt with in the best possible way,” he said, adding that he would not have agreed to the settlement otherwise.
The US president also pointed to external pressure as a contributing factor behind the agreement, expressing his belief that China played a role in encouraging Tehran to enter negotiations and accept the ceasefire.
The remarks come amid a fragile pause in hostilities, with international attention focused on whether the temporary truce can evolve into a broader and more lasting agreement between the two long-standing adversaries.
