KIPIC extends bid deadline for hydrogen production unit project

The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) has announced an extension of the bidding deadline for a contract to deliver alternative feeding systems for the hydrogen production unit at the Al-Zour Refinery, valued at $16 billion.

The deadline for submitting bids has been postponed to March 12, extending from the previous date of February 11. This extension marks several delays since the project’s initial proposal last year, with the original bid deadline set for June 20, 2023, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The contract’s scope encompasses engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works, along with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and quality testing activities.

Previously, Quebec reached out to various contractors, including Hyundai Engineering & Construction (South Korea), Larsen & Toubro (India), Petrofac (UK), Samsung Engineering (South Korea), and SK Engineering and Contracting (South Korea), seeking their interest in the project.

The EPC scope includes constructing Unit 38 (compression facilities), connecting piping systems, modifications to existing units such as Unit 33, construction of 60 steam generation units, erection of two new boilers, and associated facilities expansion.
