The Meteorological Department has forecast dusty and windy conditions across the country, with active winds expected to reduce horizontal visibility in several areas, particularly in exposed locations.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, said in remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical forecasting models indicate Kuwait will be affected by an extension of a high-pressure system accompanied by a dry air mass.
He explained that moderate to brisk northwesterly winds, ranging between 25 and 50 kilometers per hour, are expected to stir up dust, reducing horizontal visibility to less than one kilometer in some areas, especially open and desert regions. The winds are also forecast to cause sea waves to rise to more than six feet.
According to the department, daytime weather will remain generally warm and dusty, while temperatures will drop at night, bringing relatively colder conditions. Dust levels are expected to gradually decrease during the evening hours.
Maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to fall between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius. Weather conditions are anticipated to improve gradually after midnight as wind speeds ease.
Authorities urged motorists, particularly highway drivers, to exercise caution due to reduced visibility. Individuals suffering from asthma and allergies were also advised to wear protective masks when outdoors amid increased dust levels and humidity.
The Meteorological Department called on citizens and residents to follow official weather updates through its website, mobile application, and social media platforms for the latest developments.
