Credit card spending in Kuwait climbs to 5.3 billion dinars in 2025
. . . amid steady consumer growth

Total credit card spending denominated in Kuwaiti dinars reached approximately 5.3 billion dinars in 2025, compared with around 4.6 billion dinars in 2024, marking an increase of about 638 million dinars and annual growth of 13.7 percent.
According to data issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait, spending recorded consistent growth across all quarters of the year compared with corresponding periods in 2024, indicating that the rise was sustained rather than driven by a single seasonal factor.
Credit card transactions during the first quarter of 2025 totaled roughly 1.2 billion dinars, up from 1.05 billion dinars a year earlier.
Spending continued to rise in the second quarter to about 1.26 billion dinars compared with 1.12 billion dinars, while the third quarter recorded the highest activity of the year at approximately 1.43 billion dinars, compared with 1.26 billion dinars in the same period of 2024.
Activity remained strong in the fourth quarter, reaching around 1.37 billion dinars versus 1.21 billion dinars previously.
The third quarter traditionally represents the peak period for annual spending, driven by outbound travel, summer holidays, and increased tourism-related expenses.
Meanwhile, the sustained strength recorded in the fourth quarter reflects the impact of seasonal shopping campaigns, promotional offers, and year-end consumer activity.
The data suggests that while seasonal factors supported spending growth, the overall upward trend points to broader and more consistent expansion in consumer spending throughout the year.
