Iran withdraws from Asian handball championship amid political concerns

The Iranian national handball team has officially withdrawn from the 22nd Asian Men’s Handball Championship, currently underway in Kuwait, ahead of its scheduled match against Jordan to determine eleventh and twelfth place.

Officials from the Iranian team informed the tournament’s organizing committee on Sunday evening that they would not continue their participation, citing the current political situation in their country. The team delegation subsequently departed from Kuwait, reports Al-Jarida daily.

As a result of Iran’s withdrawal, the Jordanian team secured its ranking without playing the match.

Meanwhile, the championship continues with the remaining teams, drawing strong attention from sports fans across Kuwait.
