Our Republic

I woke up, had my bread, and went out. There was a commotion happening outside as usual, but this time children were being dragged down, women beaten up, and thousands of people chased by British soldiers.

And, WHAT ABOUT ME? I was shot at that very moment. That’s when I realized that it was a dream, but not just a DREAM, PRESENT — the present everyone who lived 76 years ago faced to give us the present we all have right now.

The struggles, hardships, and extreme poverty they had to go through to bring back their nation — to see a free, happy, sovereign, non-discriminate country with a form of government that is ruled by our representatives.

Today, the 26th of January, we are celebrating 76 years of freedom, celebrating the success and hard work of our great leaders. On this day, the Constitution of India was drawn and drafted and came into effect.

The day India became a sovereign democratic republic. This was done not just for defeating oppression but for us to live and follow justice, equality, and unity among ourselves. Let us all be grateful to our late leaders and everyone who suffered endlessly for giving us this day to CHERISH.
