Foreign Minister hails ‘Excellent Results’ of GCC Summit in Bahrain

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya described the Gulf summit hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain on Wednesday as “successful and with excellent results,” reaffirming Kuwait’s unwavering commitment to Gulf unity, coordinated positions, and comprehensive cooperation among GCC member states.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the United Arab Emirates Embassy’s celebration in Kuwait marking the UAE’s 54th Union Day, held under the slogan “United”, Al-Yahya said that the final communiqué of the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council clearly reflected the solidarity and cohesion of the Gulf bloc, reports Al-Rai daily.

He emphasized that Kuwait remains fully engaged in advancing joint Gulf action across key areas, including unified customs procedures, economic integration, security coordination, and cybersecurity—matters he described as “urgent necessities” for the safety and stability of the region.

Al-Yahya expressed pride in Kuwait’s accomplishments during the presidency of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the previous summit cycle, and wished the Kingdom of Bahrain success as it assumes the chairmanship of the current session.

The Minister also extended heartfelt congratulations to the United Arab Emirates—its leadership, government, and people—on the occasion of Union Day, noting the strength and continuous growth of Kuwaiti-Emirati relations.

He said that immediately upon returning from the Manama summit, he was keen to attend the UAE’s national celebration in Kuwait to share the joy of the occasion with “our brothers in the Emirates.”

Earlier in the day, the 46th GCC Supreme Council session convened in Manama with the participation of His Highness the Amir, who headed Kuwait’s delegation. The summit’s final statement commended the achievements realized during Kuwait’s presidency of the 45th session.

Al-Yahya had also led Kuwait’s delegation to the 166th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council, held Sunday in Manama as part of the preparatory work for the summit.
