Authorities mobilize field teams to stop spread of illegal bachelor housing

- Following the demolition of 67 dilapidated buildings in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, authorities have observed the movement of single men from the area into neighboring private residential districts such as Khaitan, Al-Firdous, Al-Andalus, Al-Rabia, and Al-Omariya.
This influx has prompted government agencies to intensify efforts to curb violations and protect the comfort and security of residents in these family-only zones.
As part of the government’s ongoing campaign to preserve the urban character of private and model residential neighborhoods, the Kuwait Municipality has continued its field monitoring operations to address the spread of bachelor housing in areas where such accommodation is prohibited.

Electricity cut to violating properties in Khaitan
Eng. Muhammad Al-Jalawi, rapporteur of the Bachelors Committee and member of the Central Operations for the Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates, stated that municipal regulatory units — in cooperation with the judicial control team at the Ministry of Electricity and Water and in coordination with the Ministry of Interior — are continuing intensive inspections to restrict bachelor housing in these neighborhoods, particularly in Khaitan.

During an inspection campaign carried out this afternoon in Khaitan, authorities cut power to 14 violating properties and issued warnings to 34 additional homes found to be illegally housing single men.
Al-Jalawi noted that specialized field teams have been assigned to monitor violations in private residential areas, with instructions to increase inspection tours to eliminate the phenomenon entirely.
He highlighted that the most affected areas currently include Khaitan, Al-Firdous, Al-Andalus, Al-Rabia, and Al-Omariya, where several warnings were issued in recent days — including 18 warnings in Al-Rabia after reports of negative behaviors affecting residents’ comfort and quality of life.

Zero-Tolerance Approach
Al-Jalawi reaffirmed the municipality’s firm stance, warning property owners — “Do not wait until government agencies reach your property. By then, you will have reached the final stage where there are no excuses or leniency. We call on everyone to restore their properties to their correct and licensed condition before legal action is taken.”
He added that field visits revealed cases of workers and single men relocating from Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to surrounding family residential neighborhoods following the recent demolition operations.
He stressed that the municipality, government, and the Bachelors Monitoring Committee will not allow violations to be transferred from one area to another, confirming that an integrated team is being deployed to prevent this displacement and maintain the integrity of private residential zones.
