Turkey’s Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Tuba Sonmez, on Wednesday described bilateral ties between Türkiye and Kuwait as a distinguished example of friendship and cooperation, rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and deep historical connections.
Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Turkish Embassy to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Republic, attended by Kuwait’s Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi and several diplomatic officials, Ambassador Sonmez highlighted that the relationship has achieved an exemplary level of regional cooperation and strategic understanding under the wise leadership of both nations.

She noted that His Highness the Emir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad’s historic visit to Türkiye in May 2024 marked a significant milestone, initiating a new phase of fruitful collaboration.
This was followed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Kuwait in October 2025, during which multiple agreements were signed in maritime transport, investment, and energy, supporting the goals of the New Kuwait 2035 vision.

Ambassador Sonmez expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s swift humanitarian support to Türkiye following the recent devastating earthquakes, emphasizing that this gesture reflects enduring solidarity and loyalty between the two nations.
She added that Türkiye and Kuwait share aligned principled stances on key regional issues, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis, noting that their cooperation contributes to peace and stability in the region.
The ambassador also stressed the importance of the international community, particularly United Nations institutions and the Security Council, acting urgently and responsibly to address pressing regional challenges.
The event underscored the ongoing commitment of both countries to strengthen ties across political, economic, and humanitarian dimensions, reinforcing a model of strategic partnership in the Gulf region.
