Administrative circular sets clear rules for terminating child support payments

The Head of the General Administration of Enforcement, Counselor Abdullah Al-Qassimi, has issued Administrative Circular No. 7/2025, outlining the mechanism for enforcing child support rulings within family enforcement departments.
The circular was issued after reviewing Ministerial Resolution No. 104 of 2002, which governs the reorganization of the Enforcement Department, with the aim of serving the interests of justice and ensuring the smooth operation of enforcement procedures.
According to the new directive, child support payments for a son shall be suspended if the convicted party provides official proof that the son has reached the age of maturity and is capable of earning a living independently — for instance, by holding a job that provides a suitable income.
Such proof must be supported by authentic documents, including an original and recent certificate from the Public Institution for Social Security confirming employment.
The circular also stipulates that a daughter’s support payment will be suspended if the convicted person presents evidence of her marriage.
In such cases, the daughter will be formally summoned to verify the marriage, and if confirmed, the payment will be terminated.
However, if the daughter fails to appear without a valid excuse, her payment will be temporarily suspended until she appears, after which a final decision will be made in accordance with the provisions of the circular.
The directive emphasized the strict adherence of all enforcement judges, department heads, and staff to the circular’s provisions, which come into effect immediately from the date of its issuance.
