Kuwait seeks stronger global air links at ICAO Assembly

Director-General of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation Sheikh Eng. Humoud Al-Sabah said Kuwait is committed to expanding its network of international air links and cement cooperation in the field of civil aviation to serve the mutual interests of all countries.

His remarks came following a series of meetings held by the Kuwaiti delegation during its participation in the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.

In a statement, Sheikh Humoud noted that the Kuwaiti delegation met with its Japanese counterpart on the sidelines of the assembly to review operational matters and discuss updating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.

He further revealed that a bilateral meeting was also held with the South Korean delegation. Both sides agreed to encourage their national carriers to launch direct air services, a move expected to boost trade, strengthen relations, and meet the growing demand for direct flights in Kuwait’s air transport market.

The Kuwaiti delegation also attended a reception hosted by the United Arab Emirates in honor of the participating delegations, underscoring Kuwait’s active engagement in regional and international civil aviation cooperation.
