Shipment of 80 drug-soaked papers seized, Bangladeshi suspect in police custody

The Ministry of Interior announced on Friday evening the arrest of a Bangladeshi while attempting to receive a shipment of papers saturated with a narcotic chemical substance.
In a statement, the Ministry said the operation was carried out through coordinated efforts between the General Administration for Drug Control and the General Administration of Customs, as part of ongoing security campaigns to track and intercept narcotics smuggled into the country via shipping ports.
The authorities identified the suspicious shipment, prompting a precise security ambush that led to the arrest of the suspect in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh while he was in the process of receiving the consignment, reports Al-Rai daily.
Upon inspection, the officials found 80 papers saturated with a narcotic chemical substance. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence also led to the recovery of seven additional similar sheets.
The Ministry added that investigations revealed the suspect was receiving instructions from an individual based in an Asian country, who allegedly directed him to receive the narcotics and distribute them to users at various locations.
Security authorities are currently coordinating through international channels to track the wider network involved.
The accused and the seized materials have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
