
The Egyptian Ministry of Health confirmed on Saturday that six students lost their lives and 24 others were injured in a drowning incident at Abu Talat Beach, located in the Ajami area of Alexandria Governorate.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar is personally overseeing the emergency response, ensuring that all medical and urgent care measures are being effectively implemented to treat the injured.
According to the ministry, the incident occurred during an activity organized by an academy specializing in air hospitality. The Ministry expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic loss, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a full and speedy recovery for those injured, according to Al-Rai daily.
The Egyptian Ambulance Authority, along with the Emergency and Urgent Care Sector, promptly responded to the accident. Sixteen fully equipped ambulances were dispatched to the site to provide first aid and the transfer the injured to nearby hospitals in record time.
Three of the injured were treated at the scene, and 13 were taken to Al-Ajami Specialized Hospital and eight others to Al-Amiriya General Hospital.
All patients are receiving specialized care for asphyxia caused by drowning, under the supervision of trained medical teams following established emergency protocols.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic accident. The ministry stressed its commitment to providing continuous medical support and coordinating with relevant bodies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
