Third debt relief campaign brings hope to hundreds of Kuwaiti families

The Ministry of Social Affairs said the third national campaign to settle debts of a certain category of citizens is being carefully managed by six joint technical and legal committees.
These committees bring together representatives from the ministries of Interior, Justice, Endowments, and Social Affairs, along with the Zakat House and the General Secretariat of Endowments, ensuring full transparency and fairness.
The ministry explained that all disbursement procedures are referred to the General Department of Implementation at the Ministry of Justice, in compliance with the approved legal and regulatory requirements. This step guarantees that the support reaches the right people and upholds the principles of justice, according to Al-Rai daily.
The eligibility criteria have been reaffirmed and clearly announced — the beneficiary must be a Kuwaiti citizen who did not benefit from the previous two campaigns in 2023 and 2024. Priority is given to those in correctional institutions and the elderly, while debts arising from illegal transactions or “under-financing” are excluded. Each case is reviewed individually to ensure fairness and to prevent duplication or misuse.
The ministry revealed that the third campaign received 9,119 cases through the central aid platform, with proceeds totaling about 15 million dinars. The names of eligible citizens were submitted to the “Execution” department at the Ministry of Justice for disbursement.
The second batch included 767 citizens, men and women alike, whose debts ranged between 5,000 and 10,000 dinars.
In an effort to preserve integrity, all committee members signed an ethical and legal code of conduct, which prohibits conflicts of interest, safeguards data confidentiality, and obliges them to report any violations.
Through this campaign, the Ministry of Social Affairs reaffirmed the government’s commitment to easing the burdens of indebted citizens, bringing much-needed relief to families, and ensuring that support is provided with transparency, responsibility, and compassion.
