Municipality rubbishes canopy removal reports from residential areas

Kuwait Municipality has refuted reports claiming that home canopies in model and private residential areas are being removed.
The authority calling the reports ‘baseless rumors’ clarified that the removal process follows a legal procedure, beginning with the placement of a removal sticker, which is only done after the expiry of the license period.
The Municipality further explained that any canopy removal near schools and homes is strictly linked to road maintenance projects and done in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works, as a result of resurfacing asphalt, repairing tile layers, and completing civil works under new maintenance contracts across the governorates, reports Al-Rai daily.
Meanwhile, the citizens are urged to cooperate with service ministries and facilitate ongoing street maintenance efforts, especially in cases where canopies obstruct the progress of roadwork.
