Sexual harassment, govt doctor gets 7 years
Anesthesiologist found guilty of assaulting sleeping patient, faces deportation

In a serious case of its kind, the Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Al-Duwaihi Mubarak Al-Duwaihi, sentenced an expatriate anesthesiologist working in a government hospital to seven years in prison with hard labor, followed by deportation after serving his sentence.
The doctor was convicted of sexually ‘molesting’ a female patient while she was unconscious during treatment.
The court’s judgment was supported by the victim’s complaint, testimony from witnesses, the findings of law enforcement investigations, and most significantly, the doctor’s own confession to the crime.
According to case details, the accused even asked the victim to contact him if she needed a place to stay, which the court viewed as further evidence of misconduct and abuse of power.
As part of the sentence, the court also ruled that the offender — being a public employee — be dismissed from his position at the government hospital, in line with the severity of the crime and breach of professional and ethical standards.
