Customs chief tours Nuwaiseeb border port, stresses oversight, tech integration

Director-General of the General Administration of Customs, Fatima Al-Qallaf, during an inspection tour of the Nuwaiseeb border crossing, praised the field efforts and dedication of the customs employees underscoring the importance of continuing to improve performance, strengthen departmental coordination, and adopt modern technologies to bolster oversight and streamline procedures.

Accompanied by Deputy Director for Investigation and Research Sami Al-Kandari and other senior officials, Al-Qallaf observed operational procedures, and evaluated the quality of services offered to both travelers and cargo transporters.

During the tour, Al-Qallaf met with port employees, including department heads and inspectors, and received a detailed briefing on daily workflows, inspection protocols, and measures taken to facilitate smooth goods and passenger movement without compromising customs security, reports Al-Rai daily.

She paid a visit to key operational units, including inspection, audit, and documentation sections, and assessed the performance and readiness of technical equipment used to detect contraband and prohibited items.

At the conclusion of the tour, Al-Qallaf expressed her gratitude to the staff for their ongoing commitment and professionalism. She reaffirmed the administration’s support for all employees, emphasizing efforts to remove obstacles, enhance discipline, and uphold high standards in safeguarding the country’s borders.
