Eng. Abdullah Al Ajmi, CEO of Duqm Refinery Company, highlighted the refinery’s remarkable achievements since the launch of its first shipment in May 2023.

.
Speaking to Oman News Agency, Al Ajmi noted that the refinery achieved exceptional loading rates of 130,000 barrels per hour, with simultaneous operations at five berths. This capacity highlights Duqm’s logistical prowess and ability to handle multiple large shipments concurrently.

He added that the refinery also shipped 304,388 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and efficiently handled vessels ranging from small tankers to large LR2 class ships.

Additionally, petroleum coke shipments reached 50,000 tons per load, with each shipment completed in under 120 hours.

After over two years of operation, night-time crude oil unloading at the Ras Markaz terminal has become a routine part of the refinery’s around-the-clock logistical system.

The strategically located export terminal outside the Strait of Hormuz offers a competitive edge, facilitating smooth exports to key regions from East Africa and South Asia to the Gulf of Mexico and Europe.

Al Ajmi emphasized the refinery’s commitment to diversifying its export portfolio, including plans to increase sulfur shipments to meet evolving global market demands through innovative and flexible strategies.

Notably, the refinery has exceeded its production capacity by more than 110%, increasing output from 230,000 to 255,000 barrels per day in a remarkably short timeframe, reflecting its dynamic growth and expanding role in the energy sector.
