U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday dismissed media reports suggesting that his administration had considered offering Iran up to $30 billion to develop a civilian nuclear energy program.
CNN and NBC News had reported that discussions took place in recent days about possible economic incentives aimed at persuading Iran to halt its uranium enrichment activities.
According to CNN, officials described the talks as preliminary, with multiple proposals being floated.
Trump, however, rejected the claims outright in a post on Truth Social, writing: “Who is the liar in the Fake News Media saying that President Trump wants to give Iran $30 billion to build non-military nuclear facilities? I have never heard of this ridiculous idea.”
He labeled the reports a “hoax.”
