Kuwait, UAE’s TAQA agree to joint technical team for energy and water projects

Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem met with representatives of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) on Monday to explore avenues of cooperation in the energy and water sectors.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint technical team tasked with studying proposed projects and following up on their implementation within a defined timeframe.
The Ministry stated that the meeting was held in the presence of UAE Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamel, and several senior officials, reports Al-Rai daily.
A video conference was conducted with TAQA representatives and technical experts from the UAE, during which a visual presentation highlighted the company’s key projects across the region.
This engagement comes as part of efforts to activate the memorandum of understanding signed earlier this month between Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
The MoU aims to bolster bilateral cooperation in energy and water, support Gulf integration, facilitate the exchange of expertise and technologies, and implement joint ventures.
Both sides emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, with the joint technical team set to play a pivotal role in achieving shared goals in sustainability and infrastructure development.
In the UAE, TAQA stands for the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, PJSC. It’s a government-controlled energy holding company focused on power generation, water desalination, and oil and gas exploration and production. TAQA operates across the energy value chain and is a key player in Abu Dhabi’s economic strategy.
