Global airlines suspend flights amid escalation following Israeli strikes on Iran

In response to the escalating regional tensions sparked by large-scale Israeli airstrikes on Iran, several major international airlines announced the suspension of flights and rerouting of services across the Middle East on Friday.

German carrier Lufthansa announced an immediate suspension of all flights to and from Tehran, citing security concerns. “Lufthansa Group flights to and from Tehran will be suspended until further notice due to the current situation,” the airline said in a statement. It also confirmed that its aircraft would avoid the airspace over Iran, Iraq, and Israel for the time being, according to news agencies.

Following suit, Emirates Airlines canceled flights to and from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iran, prioritizing the safety of its passengers and crew amid the volatile conditions.

Russia’s Aeroflot also suspended its flights between Moscow and Tehran, and announced route adjustments across the Middle East to ensure flight safety in light of the emerging threats.

Similarly, Qatar Airways canceled several scheduled flights to Iran and Iraq, joining the growing list of carriers altering services due to the rising risk of regional escalation.

Dutch airline KLM announced the cancellation of its flights to Tel Aviv, further reflecting the aviation industry’s heightened caution amid growing instability in Middle Eastern airspace.

The wave of cancellations underscores the broader implications of the conflict, not only for regional security but also for global transportation and logistics networks.
