Safety failures, hazard risks prompt closure 16 industrial plots
- The closures include 14 plots in the First Al-Mirqab Industrial Area (Block 1 – Plot 3), commonly known as “Al-Saffarin Market”, as well as one plot in the Third Shuwaikh Industrial Area and another in the Al-Mustaqbal area.
The Public Authority for Industry has issued decisions to close 16 industrial plots following inspections that revealed multiple violations of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards governing industrial activity.
The closures include 14 plots in the First Al-Mirqab Industrial Area (Block 1 – Plot 3), commonly known as “Al-Saffarin Market”, as well as one plot in the Third Shuwaikh Industrial Area and another in the Al-Mustaqbal area.
According to the authority, the violations identified ranged from improper storage practices and the handling of hazardous materials to non-compliance with fire safety requirements.
Several sites were found lacking essential safety systems, including fire licenses and alarm devices, while others showed evidence of electrical hazards. In some cases, contracts had expired, yet the sites remained unused or closed at the time of inspection.
The authority stressed that the measures were taken in line with regulatory frameworks aimed at safeguarding public safety and environmental standards within industrial zones.
Owners of the violating plots have been granted a one-month grace period from the date of enforcement to rectify their status and remove all recorded violations.
The authority warned that failure to comply within the specified timeframe will result in stricter legal action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
