Kuwait Debtors Campaign approves 2,422 cases, disburses 7.5 million dinars
Justice Minister says, campaign reflects Kuwait’s deep-rooted values of solidarity and compassion
Minister of Justice Counselor Nasser Yousef Al-Sumait said the ongoing Debtors Campaign continues to achieve its humanitarian and social objectives under strict regulatory controls, noting that as of Thursday, June 25, 2026, a total of 2,422 cases have been approved and 7,505,987 dinars have been disbursed from the 16.5 million dinars collected so far, representing around 45 percent of the total funds raised.
Al-Sumait made the remarks during a meeting with six working groups tasked with reviewing debtor files, attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Awatif Abdul Latif Al-Sanad, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Technical and Administrative Affairs Nouf Al-Qabandi, and senior officials from the ministry and the General Directorate of Execution.
He explained that the ministry has introduced a structured review mechanism in coordination with the Head of the General Directorate of Execution, Counselor Abdullah Al-Qasimi, through the formation of six specialized teams assigned to study cases according to governorates.
These teams operate under the supervision of the ministry’s undersecretaries before submitting their findings to enforcement judges for verification and final approval.
The minister stressed that the updated procedures are designed to ensure that charitable contributions are directed to their rightful beneficiaries, in line with clear criteria that prioritize transparency, fairness, and maximum humanitarian impact.
He added that approved cases must have a valid enforcement file and a confirmed executive document, with priority given to the most vulnerable categories, including individuals facing imprisonment or arrest orders, cases related to alimony and housing rent, and personal debts.
Consideration is also given to the age of the enforcement file and the value of the debt, with a cap of 10,000 dinars per beneficiary, whether across one or multiple files.
Al-Sumait expressed his gratitude to donors for their support, saying the achievements of the campaign reflect the authenticity of Kuwaiti society and its deeply rooted values of solidarity and compassion. He also praised enforcement judges, working teams, and Ministry of Justice staff for their efforts in ensuring aid reaches those in need efficiently and transparently.
It added that the step supports efforts to safeguard the domestic tax base, promote tax justice, and contribute to the development of a more transparent and equitable global financial system.
