Kuwait allocates 22 million dinars for power stations to feed Google Cloud centers
This initiative aims to accelerate Kuwait's digital economy transition by building essential infrastructure and providing advanced digital services, improving quality and efficiency of public services for citizens and residents.
Informed sources in the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy in Kuwait has confirmed that the Ministry of Finance, has approved a budget of 22 million dinars to establish 3 Major Switching Stations to support the upcoming Google Cloud data centers.
These data centers are part of an agreement between the Kuwaiti government and Google to develop a comprehensive digital transformation roadmap program for government bodies and state-owned companies.
Furthermore, the sources revealed that the approved financial budget of 22 million dinars will be allocated to build 3 main conversion stations in Sulaibiya, north of the city of South Saad Al-Abdullah, and Al-Mutlaa. Each station will supply power to a Google Cloud data center planned for its respective area.
The sources explained that the agreement with Google Cloud aims to accelerate Kuwait’s transition to a digital economy by establishing the necessary infrastructure and delivering advanced digital services and applications.
These efforts will enhance the quality and efficiency of public services for citizens and residents, build a sustainable and diversified economy, and develop basic learning skills necessary to foster the adoption of cloud technologies. Additionally, the initiative seeks to support innovative projects that will pave the way for digital economy transformation in Kuwait.
