Passing score set at 75% in Kuwait’s new 100-point driving test

Expanded test system to enhance driving standards across all license types

• The Ministry of Interior has implemented a new driving test system. The test includes a 100-point evaluation. The passing score is set at 75%.

• The new test assesses various driving skills, including parking, turning, and obeying traffic signals.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, specifically the Traffic Education Department, has introduced a new driving test system across all six governorates.

This new system includes a comprehensive written evaluation that is prepared by the examiner for each test-taker.

According to informed sources at Q8-Press, the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Yousef Al-Khuda, has approved the specialized test format for driving license applicants. This format covers all types of licenses, including private, public, construction, and motorcycle.

The new test consists of six stages, beginning with the moment the applicant enters the testing area. Examiners will assess various skills, such as seatbelt usage, attentiveness while driving, parallel parking, stopping at red lights, making tight turns, and using a manual transmission.

Each test component is worth 10 points, except for stopping at a red light and making a tight turn, which are each worth 30 points. To pass the test, applicants must achieve a score of 75% or higher out of 100.

Previously, examiners would simply record the pass or fail result on the applicant’s form. However, with the new system, the examiner will now fill out a detailed evaluation form, and the results will be verified by both the practical test officer and the head of the testing department.
