Kuwait grants 25 patents in just six months

The country recorded 3,714 patent transactions in the first half of 2024, including applications, grants, exams, and renewals, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

  • January recorded the highest number of patent transactions with 1,254, followed by February with 1,046, March with 884, June with 181, May with 179, and April with 170 transactions.

  • Patent renewals dominated with 81.8% of the total, totaling 3,039 transactions, with January leading at 1,170.

Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed that Kuwait recorded approximately 3,714 patent-related transactions in the first six months of 2024, including applications, grants, publications, examinations, and renewals, according to Al Anba newspaper.

January recorded the highest number of patent transactions with 1,254, followed by February with 1,046, March with 884, June with 181, May with 179, and April with 170 transactions.

According to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, reviewed by Al Anba newspaper, patent application transactions accounted for 9.1% of the total, with 339 applications over six months. The highest number was in May with 71 applications, followed by March and April with 59 each, June with 53, February with 52, and January with 45 applications.

Patent granting and publication transactions made up about 0.67% of the total, with 25 transactions. May has witnessed the most patent grants with eight, followed by June with seven, April with five, February with three, and January and March with one each.

Patent examinations accounted for 8.37% of the total, with 311 transactions in the first six months of the year. June recorded the highest number of examinations with 72, followed by May with 64, March with 52, February with 44, and January with 38 transactions.

Patent renewals dominated with 81.8% of the total, amounting to 3,039 transactions. January led with 1,170 renewals, followed by February with 947, March with 772, April with 65, May with 36, and June with 49 transactions.
