Saudi Arabia officially submits bid to host 2034 FIFA World Cup

With this bid, the Kingdom aims to host the unprecedented edition of the tournament that will bring together 48 teams for the first time in history, all within a single country.

After approval from Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom officially submitted its bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup at a ceremony in Paris, the French capital, organized by the International Federation of Association Football, as reported by Al Qabas newspaper.

The file was submitted by an official delegation headed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and Yasser Al-Misehal, President of the Saudi Football Federation, along with two children from the regional training centers of the Saudi Football Federation.

The Kingdom announced its intention to bid for the tournament on October 4, before the deadline for submitting bids closed without any competition for the Saudi bid.

The submission of the Saudi file is in preparation for the official announcement of the Kingdom hosting the tournament, which is scheduled to take place during the FIFA Congress on December 11.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support and interest in this vital sector. Their support has made the Kingdom a permanent host for many international sporting events, reflecting the significant progress and achievements of the country.

He said, “With this candidacy, we intend to host the exceptional version that brings together 48 teams for the first time in the history of the tournament in one country.”
