The Ministry of Education’s administrative sector nears completion of referral procedures for retiring teachers and officials. This follows approvals and verifications from insurance companies regarding retirement eligibility.
The Ministry of Education is preparing to retire 173 teachers and administrative officials from different schools, educational stages, and regions. This action is due to their service period exceeding 34 years during the current academic year 2023-2024 and the Gregorian year 2024.
Informed sources confirmed to Al-Rai newspaper that the administrative sector of the Ministry of Education is in the final stages of completing referral procedures. This comes after addressing insurance companies, obtaining their approval, and verifying eligibility for retirement pension.
The sources reported that the ministry has compiled a list of eligible Kuwaiti citizens who have completed 34 years of service. After coordinating with the Social Insurance Institution, they identified 167 citizens, comprising 156 teachers and supervisors and eleven administrative officials. Furthermore, the number of non-Kuwaitis who have completed the required period includes four resident teachers and administrators only.
Sources indicated that the lists included teachers from various specializations, as well as positions such as school principals, assistant principals, mentors, specialists, and observers.
The sources also mentioned a proposal to implement the decision to refer members of the educational and administrative bodies to retirement by the end of the academic year, based on each educational stage. Administrators who are not working in schools are proposed to be referred to retirement by the end of 2024.
