  • Dance, Kathak fusion, fashion, handicrafts and traditional arts highlight the November 3 celebration; blends Indian traditions with Kuwaiti heritage at India House.

The Embassy of India in Kuwait hosted a special Diwali Diwaniya for women at India House on November 3, bringing together Indian cultural traditions and Kuwait’s heritage through an evening of dance, fashion, art and traditional hospitality.

Hosted by Ambassador of India H.E. Mrs. Paramita Tripathi, the event formed part of the Embassy’s two-day Diwali celebrations commemorating 65 years of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait. It highlighted the shared cultural values of hospitality, togetherness and community bonding that underpin the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

The program featured vibrant dance performances, including Kathak fusion presentations by local Indian artists, offering guests a glimpse of India’s rich performing arts traditions. A special fashion presentation showcased Indian textiles through contemporary designs inspired by Kuwaiti couture.

Models presented creations that reflected the diversity of Indian fabrics and craftsmanship while incorporating elements of Kuwait’s fashion heritage. Guests also had the opportunity to experience traditional Indian mehndi (henna) art and saree draping, providing an interactive introduction to India’s diverse cultural traditions.

The celebration offered a wider experience of India’s heritage through traditional cuisine, regional delicacies, arts, handicrafts and tourism. Festive decorations, traditional lighting and a Diwaniya-inspired setting created a warm atmosphere that reflected the cultural traditions of both countries.

A special highlight was the showcase of Indian handicrafts under the Government of India’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which promotes distinctive products and traditional craftsmanship from different districts across the country.

The exhibition featured an array of traditional art forms and crafts, including blue pottery, lamps, intricate filigree work and paintings. The display highlighted the creativity and skills of Indian artisans while underscoring the importance of preserving and promoting the country’s traditional craftsmanship.

The Embassy expressed its appreciation to Indian Heritage for its valuable support and cooperation in organising the celebrations.
